Every great work of art has two faces, one toward its own time and one toward the future, toward eternity<\/p><\/div><\/em><\/p>\n This quote sets the tone, of creative mind Otha \u201cVakseen\u201d Davis III and his drive, passion and fore\u00a0knowledge for music and the arts.<\/p>\n Music and the theory of art has been the primary influence on Otha\u2019s life from an early age. Creativity\u00a0was passed down to him from his mother, who is noted as a writer; as well as his father, also a writer, chef and musician. As a child he was artistically inclined; playing several instruments including the violin and drawing\/painting from the earliest stages of childhood.<\/p>\n Born to a military family in Athens, Georgia, Otha lived in several locations in the U.S. and in Bermuda.\u00a0Most of the young artist\u2019s upbringing was spent in Jacksonville, Florida. While the majority of his youth\u00a0was spent creating visual arts, it wasn\u2019t until high school that he began to focus more on music and spent\u00a0over 10 years as a recording artist\/producer. During college, his love for music developed into a full time\u00a0passion, and ultimately, he forged ahead and pursued a career in the music industry.<\/p>\n Upon moving to South Florida in 2005, Otha began an internship at one of the country\u2019s most successful independent Urban labels, Slip N Slide Records, which would alter life\u2019s course greatly. Quickly moving up the corporate ladder from an intern to a Product Manager and A&R Executive, Otha played a major role in the label\u2019s continued success of over 20 million in sales. Serving as the Product Manager over Plies\u2019 highly successful \u201cDefinition of Real\u201d, \u201cDa Realist\u201d and \u201cGoon Affiliated\u201d albums, Otha was also a key member of the Marketing\/A&R team behind Rick Ross\u2019 \u201cPort of Miami\u201d, \u201cTrilla\u201d and \u201cDeeper Than Rap\u201d; Trick Daddy\u2019s \u201cBack By Thug Demand\u201d; Plies\u2019 \u201cDefinition of Real\u201d; Trina\u2019s \u201cStill Da Baddest\u201d and \u201cAmazin\u201d; and Jagged Edge\u2019s \u201cThe Remedy\u201d.\u00a0 It was also during his six-year tenure with SNS that he started his own entertainment company: Vakseen LLC.<\/p>\n With a company specializing in A&R Management, Production\/Songwriting and Artist Development, Otha\u2019s business has successfully procured everything from artist, production and major publishing deals, to film and TV licenses. Upon relocating to Los Angeles in 2011, key partnerships with top major labels and music publishers have granted the company and it\u2019s clients the opportunity to work with major brands like MTV, VH1, Samsung, CBS and Telemundo, as well as international recording artists like Pitbull, EXO, Flo Rida, Red Velvet, Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs, T.I. and Rick Ross, amongst others. One of the company\u2019s many accolades includes landing a Billboard #1, multi-platinum hit record with Pitbull\u2019s \u201cTimber\u201d.<\/p>\n While music has played the driving force in his business career, Otha\u02bcs passion for the arts has served as his key to sanity in the fast paced entertainment industry. The self-taught creator has developed a distinct collage-influenced painting style (Vanity Pop) that fuses elements of cubism, photorealism, fashion design and pop surrealism into vibrantly alluring, abstract portraits. While most viewers assume they\u2019re viewing collage or mixed media art, each #VakseenArt creation is in fact meticulously hand painted directly on canvas. Drawing distinct inspiration from our fascination with popular culture, his gallant paintings are a celebration of women, beauty, duality, insecurity and self preservation. Currently based in Los Angeles, his art has\u00a0been featured by major brands like Adidas, Complex, Vibe, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Juxtapoz Magazine and Tupac Shakur\u2019s estate, to name a few.
